With plenty of options from Seiko made for exploring the ocean, often the shore gets overlooked. This new timepiece from Seiko brings the classic cushion case shape out of the sea and into your watch collection with an adventure-ready take on one of their most iconic case shapes. The SRPG lineup features a scaled-down case reminiscent of the 6309 with a rotating compass bezel for orienteering. A bold dial and interesting color combinations make the SPRG especially easy to read whether your adventures take you on land or underwater.

Measuring in at 42.4mm wide by a very reasonable 45.2mm lug-to-lug, the SRPG will stay within the bounds of most wrists. At 11.7mm thick, the watch is slim enough to stay out of the way during activity too. Crafted from stainless steel and waterproof to 200m, the watch is more than ready for swimming and some light diving. A sapphire crystal protects the dial, while resisting scratches to a high degree. Seiko’s own Lumibrite luminous treatment is found on the arrow/sword hands and within the applied indices for high legibility even when the light is low. There’s a convenient date window at 4:30, perfect for keeping track of the date on those long camping trips. Flip the watch over, and you’ll see a unique case back engraving -- a set of ground-to-air emergency codes, in the unlikely event that you need to signal for help.

Beating away inside the watch at 21,600 bph is Seiko’s Japanese-made 4R35 automatic winding movement. Powered by the movement of your wrist, the rotor will wind up the movement keeping it running for approximately 41 hours between wearings. Within the movement itself, there are 23 jewels keeping things running smoothly. This movement has the ability to be hand-wound and features hacking seconds for accurate time setting.

About Seiko

Founded in 1881, Seiko began as a humble jewelry and clock store and has since grown into the watchmaking juggernaut that it is today. If the technology for a watch they wanted to make didn’t exist, Seiko made it happen under their own roof. Since Seiko is vertically integrated, they can customize nearly any part of their watches to their own design and specs in house. From the first true dive watch, to one of the first automatic chronographs, and completely new ways of powering a watch like Spring Drive, Seiko’s list of horological achievements is lengthy. They’ve done everything all the way down to creating their own lab-grown and regulated quartz crystals for timekeeping.
