Every great watch brand needs an iconic dive watch, and the Superman is Yema’s. Part of the original class of dive watches (think Subs, Fifty Fathoms and Sea Wolfs) the Superman dates back to the 1960’s and features several of its own unique aesthetic features. Notably, the “shovel” seconds hand, triangular minutes hand, thin steel bezel and, most importantly, the locking bezel. A clever innovation by Yema, the piece of bent metal between the crown and bezel effectively prevents the bezel from turning when the crown is screwed in.

In true mid-century style, the Superman is 39mm, which is keeping with the original, while also supplying enough presence for a modern interpretation. The modern version also features a high-domed crystal, but rather than acrylic, it’s highly scratch-resistant sapphire. The Superman comes on a 19mm steel bracelet with a dive-extension clasp.

Inside of the Superman is the ETA 2824-2 movement, a Swiss-made automatic workhorse movement. This caliber features 25-jewels, 38-hour power reserve, date and hacking seconds (the second hand stops when the crown is pulled out). The 2824 is a tried and true movement, thus making it a reliable favorite.
