The Citizen Promaster Dive series consists of a diverse assortment of purpose-built professional diver’s watches that are designed for life below the surface of the ocean. Based on the design of a cult-favorite Citizen diver that originally debuted in 2006, the new generation of Citizen Promaster “Orca” watches get their nickname from the distinct shape of their hour markers, along with the unique design of their rotating timing bezels.

Crafted from stainless steel, the case of the new Citizen Promaster “Orca” measures 46mm in diameter; however, its short semi-integrated lugs help to minimize its overall footprint on the wrist. Sitting on top of the case is the model’s distinct orca-inspired bezel with prominent semicircular raised sections to help provide grip. Protecting the dial is a thick convex mineral crystal, while a solid screw-down caseback adorned with a black and white killer whale emblem works together with the signed screw-down crown to help provide the new Citizen “Orca” watches with an ISO-certified 200 meters of water resistance.

Citizen offers the new Promaster Dive “Orca” lineup in three different configurations. The BN0230-04E is the classic black version that features a black dial, black bezel, and matching black rubber strap, all complimented by small red accents on the bezel and a bright orange minute hand. Conversely, the BN0231-01L is the blue version that swaps out the black components of its sibling for deep blue ones and sticks to just red for its minute hand and dial/bezel accents. Meanwhile, the BN0235-01E is the Special Edition Box Set version that features a dark monochromatic color profile with a black PVD case and all-white markings, and it comes packaged in a waterproof box that includes a 400-lumen diver’s flashlight.

At the heart of all three versions of the new Citizen Promaster Dive “Orca” lineup is the Eco-Dive E165 movement. Powered by any ambient light source and offering the added convenience of a date display that appears through a window in the dial at the 3 o’clock location, the Citizen Eco-Drive E165 promises easy care-free ownership, along with the precision and grab-and-go convenience of quartz timekeeping.
