The Oris Big Crown ProPilot Big Date is everything you want in a day-to-day pilot’s watch - and more. Though a genre of watch with seemingly endless options, the Big Crown ProPilot Date stands out. A modern take on the format, the turbine motif on the bezel adds an immediate point of visual interest. The dials then stay true to what matters on pilot and military watches, as they are clean, easy to read and bold. New for 2020, the dials also feature molded lume markers, for better low-light visibility. It all comes together to create a watch that is a joy to wear.

At 41mm wide and just a hair over 12mm thick, the Big Crown ProPilot Big Date wears exceptionally well, making it the kind of watch you can wear all day, everyday. The exceptionally finished cases exude the quality one expects from a Swiss-made watch, while the dial is a refreshing variation on a pilot’s design. As per the name of the watch, at three you’ll find an oversized date window, adding to legibility and visually integrating the date into the dial better than standard dates. For a tool-watch look, go for the black dial. For a unique dressed-up version, the anthracite dial is the version to look at.

Inside of the Big Crown ProPilot Big Date is the Oris 751 / Sellita SW 220 movement. This is a 26-jewel Swiss-made automatic with 38-hour power reserve, hacking seconds and a frequency of 28,800 bph. The movement has been modified to include a larger date. Visible through the display case back, the Oris 751 also features their signature red rotor.

About Oris

The rich history of Oris dates back to 1904, when Paul Cattin and Georges Christian founded the brand in Hölstein, Switzerland, where it is still based. Over the past century, Oris has reached many great achievements, including being one of the 10 largest watch brands in the world in the 1960’s. Since the 1980’s, Oris has pursued a catalog of unique mechanical watches that has channeled their independent spirit. From their patented Worldtimer to their depth gauge diver to their mechanical altimeter pilot’s watch, Oris has continued to innovate in a way few other brands can match. An achievement that is highlighted by the brand’s commitment to fare, and accessible prices.
