Known for their in-house enamel dials, in 2020 when the world shut down anOrdain couldn’t practice their signature craft, so they designed a series of watches that celebrated their unique design language, sans-enamel. Working with a high-end dial maker in Germany, anOrdain created a trio of dials with precious metal coatings, finished to the highest degree with sandblasting and brushing for contrasting textures. Available in Black Rhodium, White Gold, and Rose Gold, they emphasize anOrdain’s vision of a classic, but quirky, and pleasantly minimal, contemporary watch.

The Rhodium Black features white accents and text, as well lacquered white hour and minute hands for high contrast. The most classic of the three, the subtle texturing of the dial adds an atypical depth. White Gold is paired with black accents and text, with heat-blued hands for a more industrial look. The sandblasted center shimmers in a way that is no less than hypnotic. The Red Gold then combines black accents and text with heat-purple hands for something truly unique. The most exotic of the three, it’s still remarkably restrained and tasteful.

Clean but sumptuous, the dials put an emphasis on anOrdain’s typeface, created by their in-house typographer, hand-polished and thermally treated hands, and elegant steel case. Measuring 38mm wide by 46mm from lug-to-lug, and 11mm thick, the Model 1 case is perfect for daily wear. The design features uniquely faceted lugs that reflect their typography, a gently bowed right side that protects the crown, and a large domed sapphire crystal with many layers of AR for perfect optical clarity from edge-to-edge.

Powering the Model 1 Precious Metal series are Swiss-made ETA 2824-2 automatic movements, the standard for a reliable caliber. Serviced, regulated, and modified by anOrdain’s team of four watchmakers, the date function has been removed, as has the date-setting position on the crown. The watches are also backed by a 5-year warranty with in-house servicing by anOrdain.

The anOrdain Model 1 Precious Metal series are made in a numbered batch of 50 each. Priced at $1,250, the watches come mounted to German-made straps, and are protected by gorgeous German-made suede travel cases. Watches will ship by late August.

About anOrdain

Founded in 2015, anOrdain is a Scottish watch brand that set out to create timepieces with in-house manufactured Grand Feu enamel dials, and their own unique vision of design. Three years later, in 2018, they launched their first line of watches, the Model 1s, which won the hearts of watch enthusiasts worldwide, quickly selling out and remaining in high demand since. Now a team that includes an in-house typographer, several enamelers, four watchmakers and more, they’ve continued to develop their skills and designs, offering a new take on a traditional craft.
