G-SHOCK’s new GBA series is part of their Power Trainer watches - a bold, durable lineup of fitness tracking watches that fly under the radar. Although the dial is simple (especially for a G-SHOCK), the GBA800 is a full-fledged fitness tracker. Featuring an analog/digital display, this tough watch is both easy to read and packed with fitness tracking functions.
The 48.7mm wide by 51.2mm long case is easy to wear, thanks to a new feature added to the band. Two “wings” have been added to the band that bridge the gap between the strap and case itself. These two space fillers prevent the watch from sliding around during your workout, making for an even more secure fit than your standard G. It also features more holes than the standard G-SHOCK so you can dial your fit in even further.
Inside the watch, the fitness-heavy 5590 module keeps things running. It has an accelerometer for step tracking and can keep track of up to 20 timer combinations that you can customize to your own personal training needs. The module is Bluetooth-enabled, which unlocks a whole range of features including auto-correcting timekeeping, and fitness logging via the G-SHOCK Connected App.

G-SHOCK was born from a simple idea — a watch should not break when dropped. Back in 1983, the original square-shaped DW-5000C was created after Kikuo Ibe witnessed a child bouncing a rubber ball. It struck him that a watch floating within a rubber case would be impervious to shocks. After a bunch of testing and design with toughness in mind, the brand was born. Nearly 35 years and hundreds of models later, G-SHOCK is still best known for being some of the toughest, hard-wearing watches that money can buy.
