It’s no surprise that Yema’s current offerings draw so much inspiration from their vintage back catalog. It’s full of classic designs that work just as well today as they did nearly 60 years ago. With roots that run deep in the world of automotive racing, it’s clear that the Speedgraf was meant to time things that move fast. The chronograph registers track seconds and minutes with a dual telemeter/tachymeter scale outlining the dial.

The Speedgraf exudes vintage charm thanks to the reasonable case size, black and white dial, and slim bi-directional bezel surrounding the dial. Measuring in at 39mm, the 316L stainless steel case will fit comfortably on nearly every wrist. The watch is packaged with a vintage style rally strap — another nod to the brand’s racing heritage. Not everything about the Speedgraf is vintage though. There are some modern conveniences like an embossed case-back, Super-Luminova lume on the hands and indices, an AR-treated domed sapphire crystal, and a new movement from Seiko with some excellent features.

Inside, you’ll find a Seiko NE86 automatic mechanical chronograph movement beating away. 34 jewels keep everything running effortlessly, while the 28,800 bph frequency ensures a smooth tick of the seconds hand. Fully wound, the NE86 will tick for an impressive 45 hours between wearings. The movement has also been calibrated to 0 +15 seconds accuracy for precision timekeeping. There are even some features that chronograph enthusiasts look for, like a vertical clutch and column wheel that help the Speedgraf punch well above its weight.
