The Yema Yachtingraf is an extremely faithful recreation of the original from 1969. A provocative design, the oversized sub-dial at three is used to count the elapsed chronograph minutes, but has been broken down into graphic 5 and 15 minute segments. Meant as a tool for yacht racing, it’s a striking visual centerpiece that gives these watches a distinct, exotic appeal. The Yachtingraf is one of Yema’s most iconic watches, vintage examples are now approaching five-figures, as they grow ever more scarce.

For the modern Yachtingraf, Yema stayed exceptionally true to the original, designing the 39mm case with the aid of 3D scans of a vintage piece to get every detail as close as possible. The result is that one could easily mistake the watch for a NOS example of the original. Of course, there are small changes. For one, the crystal is now a domed sapphire, for added durability. Additionally, there are subtle changes to the case made in order to incorporate a modern automatic chronograph caliber.

Powering the Yachtingraf is an ETA/Valjoux 7753 caliber. This Swiss-made automatic chronograph is a variation on the workhorse 7750, with a 3-6-9 sub-dial layout. The 7753 features 27-jewels, hand-winding, day, date, chronograph, 44-hour power reserve, a frequency of 28,800 bph and hacking seconds (the second hand stops when the crown is pulled out).
