Digital Get Down! - Our Favorite Digital Watches In The Windup Watch Shop
Words by Windup Watch Shop

We here at the Windup Watch Shop know some watch enthusiasts turn their nose to digital watches for a combination of reasons, including a preference for the traditional and aesthetic appeal of analog watches with their intricate mechanical movements and timeless designs, or even a sense of nostalgia and connection to the past. And while that’s all ok and fine, we got to admit…we still really love digital watches! They’re great pieces to accompany many watch collectors' personal collections and add a bit of fun because they usually have more functionality than the traditional three hander mechanical watch. Today, we’re going to take a look at a few of our favorite digital watches, found here at the Windup Watch Shop

AUTODROMO GROUP C

Autodromo celebrates the dawn of the Digital Age with the Group C watch. The clean, slab-sided shape of the case echoes the rational aerodynamic forms of cars such as the Porsche 962C and the Sauber C9. The brightly colored pushers reference the fluorescent-hued mirrors of Group C cars that allowed them to be differentiated at a distance during races such as the Le Mans 24 Hours. A chamfered sapphire crystal reveals a simple black and white LCD module with blue EL backlight that will take you back to the simplicity of a time when this basic tool was the proto-"smart watch." The Group C watch can time laps (including split times), display the time and date with micro precision, and has an alarm function.

G-SHOCK 40TH ANNIVERSARY DW5040PG

The G-SHOCK DW-5040PG-1 is a standout timepiece due to its exceptional durability, practical functionality, and stylish design. Built with Casio's renowned shock-resistant technology, this watch can withstand rough conditions, making it perfect for outdoor adventures or daily wear. Its array of useful features, including alarm, stopwatch, and countdown timer, enhances its practicality. Additionally, the combination of a sleek black resin band and case with eye-catching gold accents gives it a bold and versatile appearance, making it a good watch for both casual and formal occasions.

TIMEX T80 SILVER

The T80 is Timex’s homage to their digital watches from the 1980s. Simple, classic, fun, sporty and nostalgic, they represent something that was once cutting-edge, and is now very common. Remade to stay very true to the original, but with a slight aesthetic tune up for a touch more style, the T80 is an affordable trip down memory lane. The T-80 is available in classic black, all silver, all gold, white, or blue. The black model features an expanding bracelet for a clean, seamless look. The silver and gold versions have an easily adjustable classic steel bracelet for a more upscale look.

G-SHOCK GM2100C SERIES

The G-SHOCK GM2100CB-3ACR is an exceptional watch that stands out for its impressive blend of style, functionality, and ruggedness. As one comes to expect from G-SHOCK, the GM2100C is chocked full of features. Along with regular timekeeping, you have a world time display, a 1/100-second stopwatch, a countdown timer, five daily alarms, and an hourly time signal. Furthermore, there’s a “hand shift” feature to clear the analog hands of the digital display when in use. Additional features include a fully automatic calendar (to the year 2099), 12/24 hour timekeeping, and a toggle to mute button tones while operating the watch. If you were looking for a tough watch, they don’t come tougher than G-SHOCK.

BULOVA COMPUTRON

The new Bulova Computron seamlessly blends retro aesthetics with modern innovation. Its unique trapezoidal case and futuristic LED display not only pay homage to the original 1976 model but also create a distinct and eye-catching design that sets it apart from other digital watches. Powering the Bulova Computron D-Cave is a quartz LED movement that presents the time using a bright green digital display. Beyond its striking looks, the watch offers practical functionality, including time, date, and dual-time zone capabilities, ensuring precise timekeeping for daily activities and travel. Additionally, the stainless steel case and water resistance add durability and reliability to this unique piece. For those seeking a watch that combines vintage charm with contemporary features, the Bulova Computron can’t be beat!
