Citizen Tsuyosa
The Citizen Tsuyosa combines elegance and sportiness in an affordable package. At 40mm wide and 11.7mm thin, it’s wearable on a wide range of wrists. The sunburst turquoise dial is a real conversation starter – though the watch can also be optioned in green, black, and dark blue. Tsuyosa means “strength” or “power” in Japanese, and it’s a fitting name for this watch. Notice the impeccably finished angles on the case and integrated bracelet, two components perfectly made for one another. The exhibition caseback shows off the Miyota 8210 inside, which has been decorated with a gold toned rotor and plate. With all this for well under $500, the Tsuyosa is a killer value with killer looks.
Craighill Kepler Pen
Who says your everyday items can’t also be museum pieces? The Kepler Pen from Craighill makes a strong case for that thanks to its sculptural shape; a pen simply has no business looking this nice. The rippled grip is more than just aesthetics as it also provides an ergonomic grip. The Kepler measures 5 inches long and only 0.3 inches thick, and you can have yours in brass (pictured), stainless steel, and classic black. Its pusher is as satisfying to press as the pen is to write with. The Kepler takes Schmidt 635 refills for years of writing enjoyment.
Pioneer Carry Global Pouch
The Carry Global Pouch from Pioneer is tailor made for new grads and those who are seeking adventure. In Forest Green, it is made of 10XD polyethylene, a material considered the world’s strongest fiber. The ripstop weave and subtle shine make for an aesthetic that is both attractive and technical. A special finish helps to keep the pouch dirt and water resistant. Measuring in at 210mm x 160mm x 70mm, it offers enough storage for chargers, earbuds, and other small accessories in scenarios where a wallet just won’t cut it. A YKK zipper keeps it all secure.
Seiko Kitchen Timer
The Seiko Kitchen Timer might not be the first product you may consider as a new grad gift, but it sure fits the bill. Compact, minimal, and eminently useful, the Seiko Kitchen timer (in both silver and black variants) is right at home both in the kitchen or anywhere in the house where timing matters. It has both analog and digital displays and handy shortcuts for common alarm needs. It’s also useful at night thanks to a small LED light. Powering the timer is a smooth sweeping quartz movement that handles all timekeeping and complications.
ADPT Series 1 Dual Time
For the uninitiated, the Seiko NH34 movement has brought GMT time-telling to an entire new world of watches. The ADPT Series 1 Dual-Time is one of those, and it combines fresh looks, affordability, and utility all in one colorful package. The 120-click uni-directional bezel includes both a minute track and a compass, further adding to the watch’s aim as a fun but useful timepiece. A closer look at the dial reveals a variety of colors and textures that conjure images of outdoor gear. This ADPT is also made of the right stuff: a sturdy and light titanium barrel-shaped case that measures 38mm x 44mm with 200m of water resistance, which is a sweet spot for watch enthusiasts. In either Aqua Berry or Mossy Shale, the Dual-Time shines as a go-anywhere, do-anything watch.
