Hamilton’s Khaki Field Mechanical was an instant classic. Building on the Khaki Field line is the brand new Khaki Field Titanium Auto, and we’re proud to be carrying it in the Windup Watch Shop. Hamilton’s newest Khaki Field is a 42mm watch that’s housed in a light and durable titanium case. It’s available in two compelling configurations — a black dial/brushed titanium case version and an all-black PVD coated version with cream-colored numerals.

Both of the new Khaki Field Titanium Autos feature the same excellent set of specs, they just look a bit different from the outside. The titanium case features a classic military shape with 20mm lugs and a large crown at 3 o’clock. Water resistant to 10ATM, these watches can handle daily splashes and dunks, and some light surface water activity. Even though 42mm is on the larger size for a field watch, the Khaki Field Titanium has a more modern appearance than its battle-worn predecessors. Flip the watch over, and you’re treated to a view of the Hamilton H-10 movement beating away inside. The movement boasts an impressive 80 hour power reserve with automatic winding capability — an excellent feature in the sub-$1k world of wrist watches.

First up, we have the brushed titanium version with a muted black dial. The numerals are rendered in white and treated with luminous paint that gives them a slight pale green tint. Technically, the dial is black, but reads more of a very dark gray. The dial is broken down into three concentric circles, each at a different level and angle with a degree of unique finishing. As a result of the sector-style design, the dial is much more interesting than your standard field watch.

Next, we have a blacked-out, PVD-coated titanium version of the watch. Instead of your standard black and white, this version of the Khaki Field Titanium features a rich creamy tone for the hands and main numerals. Other accents on the dial are rendered in white. You’ll notice how the cream numerals really pick up on the brown in the calf leather strap, resulting in a cohesive and compelling design.
