Now in the Shop: Three Small Mother of Pearl Aquis from Oris
Words by Windup Watch Shop

The Aquis is Oris’ vision of what a modern dive watch should be. WIth its sleek and functional design and stainless steel case, the Aquis is a staple in their lineup. Until now, the Aquis has clocked in at a bold 43.5mm in diameter. The integrated bracelet / strap design made this size challenging to wear for smaller wrists, but worry no more. Brand new from the brand is a trio of Aquis timepieces in a manageable 36.5mm case diameter. Let’s take a closer look at what makes these new offerings from the brand so exciting.

A new trend of smaller dive watches that still retain the specs of their larger counterparts is a one that we love to see. That’s the case with these three new watches too. Even though they’re smaller in size, they still sport 300 meters of water resistance, a screw-down crown with guards at 3 o’clock, a durable sapphire crystal, and a steel unidirectional rotating bezel. Inside the watch, an Oris 733 automatic movement tracks time (based on the Sellita SW200-1), and will run for 38 hours when fully wound. One of the most exciting parts about these new offerings is the mother of pearl dials. Rendered in green, blue, or pink, each dial has a unique iridescent shine to it, depending on the underlying characteristics of the mother of pearl used to create it.

Despite their smaller size, the Aquis 36.5 is still a seriously capable dive watch, which is what makes it so cool. You can choose from three dial colors and two strap options – a stainless steel bracelet or a dial-matching rubber strap. This watch starts at $2350 on rubber or $2400 on stainless steel, and is available now in the Windup Watch Shop.
