If you’ve been on the hunt for a rugged, military-inspired field watch, look no further. For over 17 years, Bertucci Watches have been refining their range of affordable field watches that are assembled in the USA. One of their most unique elements is their patented “DX3'' Unibody case design. Each watch case is made from a single piece of fiber-reinforced polycarbonate, stainless steel, or titanium with fixed lug bars to remove any potential points of failure on the case. It’s not all about the case though, as most Bertucci watches run on premium all-metal quartz movements of American or Japanese origin.
We’re happy to welcome three models to the shop: the fun, glow-in-the-dark DX-3 Plus “Glow”, the WWII-inspired A-11T Americana Officer’s Edition, and the feature-packed A-11T Field Chronograph.
A-11T Americana Officer’s Edition
Based on an iconic WWII-era mil spec, the A-11T features a high contrast dial that’s easily readable at a glance. The spec also calls out for 10 minute markings around the dial, which are convenient for a variety of timing tasks. To tell the time, a set of white sword-shaped hands point to the hours and minutes, while a rectangle-tipped seconds hand ticks around the dial. The 42mm case is crafted from a single piece of titanium and then polished to a mirror-like finish. With 200m of water resistance and a screw-down crown, the A-11T Americana makes an excellent option for a set it and forget it piece in your collection.
A-11T Field Chronograph
It’s easy to see the similarities between the A-11T Officer’s Edition and the Field Chronograph, as both are based on the same military specification. The Field Chronograph packs in advanced timing features thanks to the chronograph complication. Set into the black dial, you’ll find three lumed sub dials, each with their own unique function. A 24-hour time indicator resides at 3, a 60 minute counter at 6, and a running seconds dial at 9. This modern take on the A-11 spec features a 42mm matte titanium case that’s both durable and lightweight. Inside, a USA-made quartz movement powers the watch that’ll run for just over three years between battery changes.
DX3 Plus Glow
This watch takes lume to the next level with its unique glow-in-the-dark case. The DX3 Plus Glow is an interesting and fun take on the field watch. Instead of Bertucci’s standard black polycarbonate case, this pale green housing glows in the dark for hours into the night. The case measures in at 40mm, with a push down crown mounted at 4 o’clock. A classic field watch dial layout keeps the watch legible, with enlarged cardinal numerals at 12, 3, 6 and 9. Perfect for camping or night time walks, the DX3 Plus makes finding a lost watch in the dark an easy task. Inside the watch, a reliable Japanese all-metal quartz movement takes care of timekeeping and will run for three years between battery changes.
