Oris Drops Some Heat and the EDC Pouch is Back - Now at the Windup Watch Shop
Words by Windup Watch Shop

It’s January 2022, and it’s very cold here in NYC. It’s a great time for soups, spiked hot ciders, fireplaces, and hot new releases (sorry, couldn’t help it). Luckily, Oris has been on a hot-streak (sorry, again) as of late, and we’re excited to bring in a few of their newest pieces. All on the smaller side, some a touch dressy, others more casual, and all with a bit of vintage flair, we think these are going to be very popular. But first, the return of one of our favorite watch accessories…

The ADPT EDC Watch Pouch is Back!

The ADPT EDC watch accessory collection is all about bringing the materials, textures, and style of contemporary outdoors gear into the realm of watches. Featuring rugged fabrics like 1000D nylon and neoprene, the EDC products take on a different look than the typical leather goods found to accompany watches. Colorful but tasteful, they provide a great way to protect your watches at home or when traveling. Originally consisting of the EDC Watch Fold and the EDC Watch Pouch, the latter was unavailable for a little while as we retooled the design, making it better, and more affordable, than ever.

The EDC Watch Pouch is a single watch case with a sleek design that’s simple to use and a pleasure to look at. Consisting of a padded nylon shell, a neoprene sleeve, and a piece of shock cord, it keeps watches, and other small goods, safe and secure. As one places their watch in the pocket of the pouch, the neoprene expands around it, holding it in place, and providing some protection. The shock-cord keeps the pouch’s flap tucked in, containing the items within.

The EDC Watch Pouches are back in three outdoorsy colorways. Khaki/Forest combines an earthy exterior with a bright orange interior for a classic look. Teal/Blue sports modern cool tones on the outside, with dark burgundy on the inside, for a more contemporary look. Gray/black is then all sleek, with a dark exterior and bright blue interior. Coming in at $29, the ADPT EDC Watch Pouches are a great solution for where to put your watch when it’s off the wrist.

The Oris Rectangular

The Rectangular marks a return by Oris to a, you guessed it, rectangular format that has been absent from their catalog for a few years. In the time off, they refined the concept and the new version is a decidedly nice change of pace for the brand. The Oris Rectangular features a case that’s 25.5mm wide x 38mm long x 10.3mm thick, making it suited for wrists of various sizes, and always sleek. Rectangular watches have a unique presence on the wrist, forming a clean line from the strap through the case, making them great when you want to wear a watch, but not have it stand out too much, and easily slip under a cuff. The design itself then balances a modest overall look with stepped sides, for an architectural touch.

The dial of the Rectangular is pure Art Deco, with thick numerals laid out at 3, 9, and 12, bounded by angular track indexes. Markers all flare out from the center, giving the dial a dynamic sense of motion. Small sword hands echo this design and feature lume for increased legibility. A date window at three gives the Rectangular some everyday convenience as well. Available in Anthracite, Gray, and White for $1,950.

The Oris Big Crown X Cervo Volante

The Oris Big Crown Pointer Date is sort of the darling of the brand’s casual timepieces. A watch that deftly mixes vintage design cues with modern trends, it’s hard not to like them. Well, until now they were only available in 40mm and 36mm sizes, but with the new Big Crown x Cervo Volante, Oris has unveiled a 38mm case that, dare we say, is the perfect balance of size, presence, and comfort.

But, that’s not all these watches have going for them. Oris teamed up with Cervo Volante, a maker of sustainable deer leather goods, to create three unique colorways, each paired with gorgeous straps, as well as carrying cases and card wallets. The dial design stays the same as earlier versions, with thin numerals, cathedral hands, and the signature pointer day, but all new colors are in use. Each featuring subtle gradients, there’s a dark, handsome green, and bright, summery, blue, and a smokey gray. Available now for $2,000.
