DUG Purist Type 1, 37mm

DUG introduces the Purist Type 1 in a new 37mm case, bringing the line’s disciplined take on German watchmaking to a smaller, more versatile size. From the watchmaking town of Glashütte, it leans into clarity, proportion, and everyday usability. Where the Type 2 switches to classic Arabic numerals, the Type 1 keeps to clean line markers for a purer, more minimalist read. The result is a clean, balanced three-hander with just enough detail in the textured dial and applied indices to keep things interesting, without ever straying from its minimalist brief.

Built around a 37mm three-part stainless-steel case, the new Purist Type 1 wears with quiet confidence. A height of 10.35mm, 43.9mm lug-to-lug, and 18mm lug width suit smaller and average-sized wrists the 40mm case doesn’t always fit. A slightly domed, double anti-reflective sapphire crystal up front and a sapphire caseback deliver durability and clarity, while 100m (10 ATM) water resistance makes it a true daily watch. The textured dial, applied baton indices, and BGW9 Super-LumiNova bring crisp legibility in Black, White, or Blue. To carry Glashütte on the dial, a watch must have at least 50% of its value created in Glashütte, a designation only a handful of brands meet. DUG meets that bar and delivers it in a compelling package.

Inside, the new 37mm Purist Type 1 is powered by the DUG 200 automatic movement, a rhodium-plated caliber based on the Sellita SW200 and finished in Glashütte with perlage, bevels, blued screws, and an openworked, 24k gold-plated rotor. With a 40-hour power reserve and reliable 4Hz architecture, it delivers modern performance with classic automatic charm. Paired with either a genuine buffalo leather strap or a finely adjustable stainless-steel bracelet—both with a quick-change system—this new size gives the Purist Type 1 a thoughtful, fully mechanical package built for a wider range of wrists.

Spinnaker Hull California

The Hull California Automatic takes its name from the “California” dial — a design that pairs Roman and Arabic numerals on the same face, a look that first showed up on luxury pieces back in the 1930s. Hull itself leans into a cushion-shaped case, a nod to the collection’s nautical roots, and comes in two colorways here: Volcanic Black and Granite Black, both built around a deeply textured black dial.

The case measures 42mm across and 47.5mm lug-to-lug, in 316L stainless steel finished at 15mm thick. A mineral lens with anti-reflective coating sits over the textured dial, with applied indexes lumed in Swiss Super-LumiNova, and the crown is a screw-lock type. Each comes on a 22mm genuine leather strap — dark brown on Volcanic Black, brown on Granite Black — and the finished watch weighs 95 grams.

Power comes from a TMI (Seiko Subsidiary) NH35 automatic movement, winding itself off wrist motion rather than a battery or manual winding. It runs at 21,600 beats per hour across 24 jewels, holds a power reserve of 41-plus hours, and includes a date window at three o’clock.

Strap-Changing Multi-Tool

The Strap-Changing Multi-Tool is the first of its kind and an original Worn & Wound invention. We took the standard strap-changing tool and redesigned it to add more functionality, without making it larger or bulkier. The tool consists of two capped ends, making it safe to throw in your bag or watch roll, a knurled body for easy grip, and two reversible bits. On each bit, you have one standard strap-changing tip, a poker or a fork, as well as a small flathead screwdriver. Use the poker for drilled lugs, the fork for standard lugs, and screwdrivers for lug bars, bezels, bracelet links, or wherever else screws might appear. The bits fit into the body securely, popping into place with a rubber O-ring. To remove a bit, simply grasp the ridge and pull it out.

On some occasions, having two screwdrivers is necessary for removing a lug bar, so our multi-tool splits in half, transforming into two tools: one for bracing, the other for turning; a Worn & Wound first.

Xeric x Worn & Wound Sector Retrograde Night Vision

When it comes to watches, “weird, wonderful, and complicated” rarely mix well with “value,” which makes Xeric such a fun anomaly of a brand. Not afraid of odd-shaped cases, wild colors, and unique ways of telling time, Xeric has forged a catalog unlike any other. You won’t find much that could be considered “on trend,” but you will find wandering hours, jump hours, and retrograde displays, mostly under $2,000, with many under $1,000.

The Sector began with the Volta, a small, retro watch with a late 20th-century vibe, a geometric case, oddly placed controls, and a double retrograde display. As millennials, it immediately spoke to the many hours we spent in arcades as children. For the Worn & Wound version, we kept what made the watch so appealing while creating a new, sector-inspired dial built around its unusual double retrograde display.

Rather than displaying every hour, the even numerals, ranging from 6 to 6, are larger and bolder, arranged along a curved index. A long, thin minute hand aligns with the minute track above, while the wider, skeletonized triangular hour hand glides along the hour index. At 36mm x 37mm and just 10.25mm thick, the Sector is compact, slim, and comfortable, recalling the digital watches that were often on our wrists in the ’90s.

Night Vision tells its story through shades of green against a black, gridded surface within a brushed-steel case. A darker green defines the lower arc and matching rubber strap, pale mint highlights the hour index and minute numerals, and acid green fills the upper arc. In the dark, all three glow bright green, while the hands glow white-blue for contrast.
