GMT fans rejoice! Yema has brought their Superman GMT back, now with a lot more options and a few important changes. Last year, when they launched the first version of this watch, which took their iconic 300m, locking-bezel Superman dive case, added a GMT movement and a 24-hr bezel, they sold out in a flash. Cool, stylish and highly limited, it was a formula for success. Well, we’re excited to say they are back and available for preorder at the Windup Watch Shop with new colors, a new case size, and some other options.
In order to not step on the toes of last year’s models, the new Superman GMTs come in black, green or black/gray split bezels, this time with sapphire inserts, rather than aluminum. A nice change, sapphire bezels have an appealing sense of depth that makes them look a bit like the plastic inserts of mid-century watches, while also providing additional scratch resistance. The dials have the same layout, but in a modern twist, the markers are now applied rather than pad printed. Additionally, each version is available in the classic 39mm or a slightly upscaled 41mm case, with or without the bezel lock!
The new Yema Superman GMTs are going to be a part of the Yema line from here on out, but the first 150 pieces per size will feature numbered case backs, giving them added collectability. The Yema Superman GMTs are available for preorder now here for $1499 - shipping end of April.
A Closer look at the colors
Let’s start with the clean, solid-black bezel version. The closest in appearance to the regular Superman, the black bezel adds GMT functionality and a 24-bezel, allowing for the tracking of up to three timezones. Understated and mature, this is the version for people who like to keep it classic. Available in 39mm here, and 41mm here.
Next up, let’s take a look at the green bezel insert. A fun, outdoorsy departure, the insert has an olive hue. With the combined 300m of water resistance and GMT function, this is a great choice for those who seek adventure and travel. Available in 39mm here, and 41mm here.
Lastly, we have the black/gray bezel option. A subtle play on the mid-century bi-color bezel, this version mixes iconic style with a modern attitude. The black/gray combo doesn’t call attention to itself, yet adds a unique dimension to the overall look of the watch. A great option for those who want to celebrate the heritage of the Superman. Available in 39mm here, and 41mm here.
