Paulin is a refreshing upstart brand based on Glasgow that has been making distinct watches since its founding in 2013. The Neo line is the brand’s take on an everyday watch and comes in a variety of dial colors.
The Paulin Neo is a friendly 38mm wide, 48mm lug to lug, and only 11.6mm thick. It comes in 316L stainless steel and is paired with a matching steel mesh bracelet – though other straps and bracelets are configurable. The dial is anodized aluminum, which is uncommon in watchmaking, and is manufactured in the UK. The unmistakable Paulin typography is unique to the brand and is vintage in nature without drawing any obvious inspiration. Dial color options include silver, gold, blue, and red. Water resistance is rated to 50 meters.
The Neo line is powered by the reliable Seiko NH35A movement with the ghost-date position removed. Hand wound and automatically winding, it offers 41 hours of power reserve and beats at 21,600 bph. It has 24 jewels and has earned a reputation as a dependable and simple movement that provides excellent performance for cost. The movement is viewable through the optional exhibition caseback.
