Arguably the hottest new G-SHOCK case design to join the lineup in recent years has been the 2100 series, which quickly picked up its “Casioak” nickname among collectors and enthusiasts due to its octagonal case profile that combines two famous G-SHOCK models from the brand’s archives. While the original 2100 series debuted in a lightweight carbon and resin case with a rubber strap, this fan-favorite G-SHOCK model has now been reimagined in full-metal as the GMB2100 collection.

Featuring a stainless steel case that measures 44.4mm wide by 49.8mm lug-to-lug and just 12.8 mm-thick, the GMB2100 series watches are the thinnest full-metal G-SHOCK models that the brand has ever put forward. Fitted with recessed mineral glass crystals over their dials, the GMB2100 watches offer solid stainless steel middle cases with screw-in casebacks that help provide them with the G-SHOCK collection’s go-anywhere, do-anything 200 meters of water resistance.

Available with either a natural silver finish as the GMB2100D-1A, with a dark gray ion plating as the GMB2100BD-1A, or with a rose gold colored ion-plated finish as the GMB2100GD-5A, all three of the full-metal G-SHOCK GMB2100 series watches feature intricate three-dimensional stainless steel bezels that undergo a three-step finishing process to provide them with their various brushed and polished surfaces. Additionally, all three variations of the GMB2100 series include solid-link stainless steel bracelets fitted with push-button clasps that are ion-plated to match the rest of their respective cases.

Powering the full-metal G-SHOCK GMB2100 series is the advanced 5691 module, which offers a hybrid analog/digital display with a pair of centrally-mounted hands for telling the time and a small LCD screen to offer access to the usual G-SHOCK suite of digital features. Functionality includes a stopwatch, alarm, countdown timer, world time (with 38 cities), automatic calendar, and LED backlight, along with Tough Solar charging and Bluetooth connectivity, which unlocks a variety of built-in convenient features via the Casio G-SHOCK smartphone app.

About G-Shock

G-SHOCK was born from a simple idea — a watch should not break when dropped. Back in 1983, the original square-shaped DW-5000C was created after Kikuo Ibe witnessed a child bouncing a rubber ball. It struck him that a watch floating within a rubber case would be impervious to shocks. After a bunch of testing and design with toughness in mind, the brand was born. Nearly 35 years and hundreds of models later, G-SHOCK is still best known for being some of the toughest, hard-wearing watches that money can buy.
