The Formex Aria Manufacture Chronometer is the most ambitious watch Formex has built — and the one that required them to invent a new movement to make it possible. The FX01 micro-rotor caliber, co-developed with Horage over several years of engineering work, is the only way to build the watch Formex wanted: ultra-thin at 6.9mm, COSC-certified for chronometric accuracy, automatic, and light enough to wear without thinking about it. The result is 78 grams on the wrist — case, movement, and a Grade 5 titanium bracelet included — and a profile that disappears under a cuff while still carrying a presence you feel when it's there.
The 40mm Grade 5 titanium case and each link of the tapering integrated bracelet are hand-brushed individually, following the organic curves of a design that reads less like it was engineered and more like it was shaped over time. Convex lugs flow into the bracelet without visible interruption, while mirror-polished bevels run precisely along every edge — a deliberate contrast that gives the Aria its wrist presence without announcing itself. The 45.45mm lug-to-lug and 19mm lug width sit cleanly on the wrist, and the double folding clasp carries Formex's patented micro-adjustment system: 3mm of extension on each side without opening the clasp or removing the watch. The dial is stamped from a single piece of brass, lacquered matte, with each beveled index mounted on a slightly raised platform — the surrounding dial surface dropping away in a gentle concave curve that creates a sense that the indexes are pushing through the dial. Rose gold-plated hands and indices with mirror-polished bevels and brushed surfaces, filled with custom Tritec Super-LumiNova. Sapphire crystal front and back, both with inner AR coating.
The main event in this package is FX01 movement. It runs at 25,200 vph (3.5Hz) with a 25-jewel full silicon regulating system — silicon hairspring, escape wheel, and pallet fork — anti-magnetic, low-friction, and requiring minimal lubrication in the escapement for long-term stability. A custom tungsten micro-rotor generates winding momentum 55% more efficiently than a conventional rotor of the same size, delivering a 72-hour power reserve. The flexible geartrain pinion eliminates backlash during hand-setting — the minute hand responds immediately and without play to every movement of the crown. The movement measures 30mm in diameter and 2.9mm thick, and is individually tested and certified by COSC to -4/+6 seconds per day. The bridges are finished with galvanic black gold plating, vertically brushed surfaces, and laser-textured cutouts that reveal the movement's deeper architecture. The tungsten rotor is brushed and laser-engraved with the Formex logo, visible through the sapphire display caseback.
One hundred pieces for the founders edition, three dial colors, with no compromises made that the team couldn't stand behind. Each watch is built to order. Watches will begin shipping in September.
