G-SHOCK is celebrating its 40th anniversary by riffing on its two most famous shapes: the octagonal 2100 series and the classic rectangular 5000 series inspired by the very first G-SHOCK. These four new models have received a full-metal treatment paired with splashes of color to contrast the all-steel look. This commemorative collection combines old school toughness with individualism and uniqueness.

The 2100 series’ fully stainless steel case measures 44.4 mm x 49.8 mm x 12.8 mm (w x l x h). Including its integrated steel bracelet, it weighs 165 g on the wrist. A mineral glass crystal protects the dial up front, while the screw-lock back helps guarantee 200 m of water resistance. The 5000 series is slightly smaller at 43.2 mm x 49.3 mm x 13 mm. It weighs 167 g on the wrist and also features a stainless steel bracelet with a one-touch 3-fold clasp. Water resistance is also 200 m thanks to a screw-lock caseback. While both models have four pushers on their cases for various functions, the 2100 series’ dial has a hybrid analog/digital layout compared to the 5000 series’ fully digital dial.

All four watches are powered by advanced solar quartz movements accurate to 15 seconds a month (separate from mobile link function). They can connect to smartphones via Bluetooth for phone-finding capabilities and automatic time-setting. Additional complications include, but are not limited to, world time, stopwatch, alarm, light, and automatic calendar. The octagonal 2100s feature gradient colors across the hour markers while the rectangular 5000s’ digital dial is framed in a blue/green bezel with colored text. Both series are offered in silver or black stainless steel.

About G-Shock

G-SHOCK was born from a simple idea — a watch should not break when dropped. Back in 1983, the original square-shaped DW-5000C was created after Kikuo Ibe witnessed a child bouncing a rubber ball. It struck him that a watch floating within a rubber case would be impervious to shocks. After a bunch of testing and design with toughness in mind, the brand was born. 40 years and hundreds of models later, G-SHOCK is still best known for being some of the toughest, hard-wearing watches that money can buy.
