Measuring in at a bold 53.1mm wide by 55.4mm lug-to-lug with a thickness of 19.3mm, the Mudmaster makes quite the statement. It’s not just large for the sake of being large, as the case houses the G-SHOCK “Quad Sensor” - an array of tools including a thermometer, altimeter/barometer, digital compass, and step counter. Metal button pipes for each of the six buttons make for a tighter seal to keep out mud and debris, while a dual-layer caseback further ensures protection from the elements.
The Mudmaster runs on the 5594 module -- a Bluetooth-connected analog/digital timekeeping device that’s programmable via the G-SHOCK Connected app. The module has a unique “Mission Log” function that combines information from the watch and the GPS in your smartphone to provide a readout of your latest adventure. Additional features like a calorie calculator, automatic time adjustment, phone finder, and world time for over 300 cities make this function-packed watch even more of a powerhouse.

G-SHOCK was born from a simple idea — a watch should not break when dropped. Back in 1983, the original square-shaped DW-5000C was created after Kikuo Ibe witnessed a child bouncing a rubber ball. It struck him that a watch floating within a rubber case would be impervious to shocks. After a bunch of testing and design with toughness in mind, the brand was born. Nearly 35 years and hundreds of models later, G-SHOCK is still best known for being some of the toughest, hard-wearing watches that money can buy.
