Louis Erard is back with another stunning collaboration with revered independent watchmaker Vianney Halter. Known as a pioneer and a bit of a renegade, Halter’s rise to prominence began with the Antiqua Perpetual Calendar released in 1998. A shockingly unique timepiece inspired by the retro-futuristic worlds of Jules Verne and H.G. Wells, the Antiqua featured three decentralized, independent displays, each within riveted windows, creating a steampunk masterpiece.
In 2020, Louis Erard tapped Vianney Halter for the first of what has become an impressive collection of collaborations with iconic and rising independent watchmakers. They sold out fast and remain collectible today. Now, in 2024, they’ve teamed up again for a new watch that takes strong design cues from the Antiqua. Based on the Le Regulateur models, the Vianney Halter II rotates the dial 30 degrees, further offsetting the hour and seconds sub-dials displayed as applied metal rings. Contrasting finishing and plating colors add an industrial feel, while rivets along the bezel and crown bring that signature steampunk look.
The picture is completed with a bespoke typeface and Halter’s distinctive handset, rendered in heat-blued steel. Coming in at 43mm at the bezel, this is definitely a statement piece. Limited to 178 pieces, this is a rare opportunity to own a Vianney Halter timepiece.
Powering the Louis Erard x Vianney Halter II is the Sellita SW266-1 Swiss-made calibers. Automatic movement, they feature 31-jewels, hacking, hand winding, sub-hours, small seconds, a frequency of 28,800 beats per hour, and a power reserve of at least 38 hours. The movements in use are true no-date.
