Watches Under $1,000

The Collins Hyperion ($575) is a refined interpretation of an aviation watch, featuring an uncluttered, highly legible 40mm dial and subtle design cues taken from founder Jimmy Collins’s passion for vintage audio equipment. Powered by the Sellita SW200 Swiss-made automatic movement, the Hyperion packs a stylish and affordable punch.

Speaking of style, the bright-red seconds hand on the Vaer A5 Automatic ($449) makes this watch pop off the wrist. Combining a classic design, with a workhorse automatic movement, the A5 is an impressively affordable, and American-assembled modern sports watch.

Make a statement next time you suit up with the Zodiac Olympos ($795). With an asymmetrical case that is at once elegant and energetic, the Olympos has a distinct and exciting personality based on the brand’s 1961 original. Mad Men style with modern specs.

The Timex M79 ($279) is a perfect entry-level automatic watch for new collectors. It’s bold 40mm case accentuates its well-finished surfaces and exotic shape. Classically cool, the M79 wouldn’t be out of place in the New Hollywood films of the 1970s.

Watches Between $1,000–$2,000

One of the original 1960s dive watch designs, the Yema Superman features several unique aesthetic features, including a “shovel” seconds hand, triangular minutes hand, and a thin steel locking bezel. Upgraded for the modern wearer, the Superman Heritage 39mm ($1,099) is one sharp diver and is powered by the Swiss-made ETA 2824-2 automatic movement to boot.

Looking to add some mid-century minimalism to your wrist? The Junghans Max Bill Automatic ($1,045) is another one of our favorite dress watches. The polished anthracite gray dial boasts authentic vintage flair, yet sits modestly on the wrist at 38mm.

The Zodiac Super Sea Wolf 53 ($1,295) is one of the brand's most important and iconic watch designs. Here, in classic Black, is the contemporary update of their genre-defining dive watch, which features applied markers with generous lume fillings. Perfect for the ocean, and even better to show off everywhere else.

Watches Over $2,000

The Oris Divers Sixty Five ($2,200) is one of the brand’s most successful recent watches, and this limited edition collaboration with Momotaro Jeans of Okayama, Japan, is one of its most unique iterations. The solid bronze bezel perfectly matches the green gradient dial, which fades from a creamy, sea-foam green to a dark gray. Even the strap itself is a work of art, created using Momotaro denim.

Through their in-house developed, patented technologies, the family-owned, German watch brand Damasko has produced some of the toughest and most advanced tool watches in the world, and the DC 80 Bi-color ($2,665) is one of their pinnacle achievements. Featuring a unique jumping central-minute counter, this modern automatic chronograph also impresses with its ice-hardened steel case, anti-magnetic shielding, and more.

An essential accessory for anyone with a penchant for speed, the Hamilton Intra-matic Auto Chrono ($2,195), is a modern tribute to their picture-perfect, bi-register 1960s chronographs. Featured here in an inverse white on blue, “Panda” dial, the Intra-matic Auto Chrono absolutely pops and its Swiss-made movement impresses just as much.
