A watch 10 years in the making, the Seiko 5 Sports x Worn & Wound 10th Anniversary Limited Edition celebrates one of the first watches reviewed on the site, as well as the road traveled since. In 2011, the Seiko 5 SNK803 defined what Worn & Wound was looking for in a watch. Stylish, compact, and affordable, it was hard to resist. As the star of the second review ever published on Worn & Wound, it set the tone for years to come and drew in an audience that pushed the brand forward.
About a decade later, when approached by Seiko 5 Sports to make a limited edition collaboration, the SNK803 came to mind as inspiration for the new watch. Combined with a new case and new ideas, the Worn & Wound 10th Anniversary Limited Edition was born. The new watch features a two-tone dial design featuring a sandy khaki tone inspired by the 803, and a charcoal gray for a unique contrast. To celebrate Seiko 5’s exceptional dial finishing, textures have been applied to both areas. The khaki received a fine “waffle” pattern of faceted diamonds that play with light and shadow to a great effect. The dark gray has been given a sunburst with a metallic sheen, adding an unexpected sense of depth.
The 39.4mm stainless steel case features brushing on all top surfaces and the bezel, contrasted with polished sides. The result is a versatile look that is rugged, yet refined. Flipping the watch over presents the display case back, which has been customized with graphics in gold-tone plating featuring the Worn & Wound 10th Anniversary logo, and celebratory text. The case backs are also individually numbered.
The Seiko 5 Sports x Worn & Wound 10th Anniversary Limited Edition comes fitted to a rugged two-piece olive green nylon strap with orange leather backing for a cool look out of the box. Additionally, a custom ADPT US-Made Mil-Strap in Admiralty Gray is supplied with red highlight stitching. The watch is packaged in a special box created just for this project as well.
The Worn & Wound 10th Anniversary Limited Edition is powered by Seiko’s 4R36 automatic winding movement. An automatic caliber, is features 23-jewels, 41 hours of power reserve, hacking, hand winding, day, date, and a frequency of 21,600 bph. The day disks of the 4R36s featured in the limited edition are bilingual, featuring both English and Kanji.
