The Venezianico Nereide GMT 39 is a travel watch built around a specific idea — that functionality should not come at the expense of sizing. The result is an easy to wear GMT with all the right specifications. Venezianico has further framed the whole watch around the early twentieth century transoceanic routes that made GMT a practical necessity in the first place — the color palette draws from antique nautical maps, the caseback is engraved with a globe surrounded by the major cities of the world alongside their respective time zones, and the Nereide name traces back to the sea nymphs of classical mythology. The aesthetic is Italian, the function is global, and the combination is genuinely well-executed.

The 39mm 316L stainless steel case measures 11.9mm thick and 45.5mm lug-to-lug — a compact, wearable profile for a GMT that sits comfortably in the range between dress watch and tool watch. The bidirectional BK7 glass bezel with 24 clicks handles the second time zone, and the sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating keeps the dial clear across all light conditions. BGW9 Super-LumiNova covers the hands and indices. The Sansovino bracelet — named for the Renaissance Venetian sculptor Jacopo Sansovino and designed as an homage to his mastery of detail — is composed of five links in two polished and three satin-finished surfaces, with a dual-finish solid clasp and micro-adjustment. Water resistance is 100 meters. Two dial colors split the lineup, both grounded in the nautical map color palette that defines the Nereide GMT's design language.

The Miyota 9075 is the right movement for this watch. A dedicated 24-hour hand preserves home time continuously, while the local hour hand adjusts instantly without stopping the movement — the "True GMT" architecture that separates a proper traveler's GMT from a regular dual-time complication. Date display sits at 3 o'clock. The movement runs at 28,800 bph with a 42-hour power reserve and hacking seconds, and the decorated caseback engraving — a terrestrial globe with time zone city references — is visible when the watch is off the wrist.

About Venezianico

Founded in 2017 by brothers Alberto and Alessandro Morelli, Venezianico embodies the fusion of passion for watchmaking and design. During their university years at Ca' Foscari, the two brothers began to outline their vision: to create watches that not only expressed craftsmanship, but also captured the authentic soul of Venice, the city where they were born and raised.

Venezianico stands out for its relentless pursuit of innovation and originality, always mindful of the historical and cultural heritage of Venice. The brand's logo, inspired by the cross atop the Clock Tower of St. Mark's Square, symbolizing time in the lagoon city, embodies this pioneering spirit and constant quest for beauty and creativity.

Their watches are distinguished by their elegant and essential style, drawing inspiration from icons of Venetian heritage. They frequently employ cutting-edge and unusual materials tied to the craftsmanship of their region, such as gold, tungsten, aventurine, amethyst, and many others, ensuring that each watch tells a fascinating story.
