A Tribute To The Very First Casio Watch
It is hard to imagine a world before Casio watches. The undisputed leader in digital watches, Casio has always been at the forefront of advanced timekeeping. To celebrate its 50th anniversary, Casio is (re)releasing the Casiotron, a callback to the very first Casio watch from 1974. This retro-inspired watches may look old-school, but pack all the technology we have come to expect and enjoy from the famed Japanese watchmaker.
The Limited Edition Casiotron watches of 2024 are a true successor to their inspiration, in both form and function. They remain under 40mm wide (39.1mm), are only 42.7mm lug to lug, and are 12.3mm thick – thinner than the original, in fact. It comes in multiple configurations but is still based in stainless steel and paired with a steel bracelet featuring a one-touch 3-fold clasp. The Casiotron’s dial is emblazoned with the vintage Casiotron logo, which sits below a retro-inspired digital display. The dial itself features black striations that reference the original model and is surrounded by a fluted edge, with the initial version in silver, the second in gold and this last one in black. Pushers on each corner of the case allow the wearer to easily activate the watch’s functions (of which there are many).
