Now Available: the Dan Henry 1964 Gran Turismo Chronographs
Words by Windup Watch Shop

Today, we’re very excited to announce that the new Dan Henry 1964 Gran Turismo Chronographs are available for purchase through the Windup Watch Shop. A true classic design, these chronos are 38mm in diameter with large pump pushers, giving them a close-to-vintage feel, and feature high domed crystals, curved hands, 3-6-9 register layouts and applied markers. Staying true to the core philosophy of the brand, the 1964’s are a carefully conceived combination of vintage references, creating a watch that truly feels like it could have been from the era.

Of course, the 1964’s are not without modern components as well, such as the Seiko VK63 Meca-Quartz movement inside. Quickly becoming a favorite movement of the indie watch brand, the VK63 mixes the timing accuracy and convenience of a quartz movement with the feel and functionality of a mechanical chronograph. Notable benefits are firm pushers with a substantial click, a 1/5 second sweep of the chronograph seconds hand (vs the typical 1/second tick of traditional quartz) and instant snap-back reset of the chronograph.

Also, in a first for Dan Henry, the 1964’s come with a steel bracelet in addition to a leather strap. Not just any steel bracelet, however, a “beads of rice” style, which any vintage watch enthusiast will appreciate. Featuring wide, brushed segments around a series of small polished “beads”, it’s a sharp look that dresses the watch up a bit, and feels great to wear.

If you’ve seen enough, the Dan Henry 1964 Gran Turismo Chronographs are available now for $250 with or without date. For those who want a closer look at the four striking colors, keep reading.

Dan Henry 1964 Gran Turismo Silver

Featuring a pale, brushed silver dial with a white chapter ring, this version is perhaps the most subtle and refined of the four. The blue tachymeter index adds just a slight touch of color. Available here

Dan Henry 1964 Gran Turismo Panda

Everyone loves a panda dial, and Dan Henry nailed it with this version. Featuring a brushed silver surface and black sub-dials, this one has a more aggressive presence while maintaining a refined air. Available here

Dan Henry 1964 Gran Turismo Slate

The dark, smokey Slate dial features white accents and a blue chronograph seconds hand with an orange tip. Masculine and distinctive, this version would look as good with a suit as grease covered overalls. Available here

Dan Henry 1964 Gran Turismo Evil Panda

The most striking version of the 1964, the Evil Panda features a matte black surface with white sub-dials and white chapter ring. As the name suggests, this one has a lot of attitude and is by far the most aggressive and sporty of the group. Available here
