Now in the Shop: Two Dive-style Watches from Seiko For Daily Wear
Words by Windup Watch Shop

Dive watches are incredibly popular, and for good reason. Rugged looks, go anywhere specs, and a distinct aesthetic make them one of the most common styles of watch amongst enthusiast circles. A true ISO-spec dive watch is no doubt a valuable tool when diving, but may be overkill for your daily needs. Born from the famous lineup of Seiko’s SKX of the past are the new SKX Sports watches from Seiko 5. We have two new models available in the shop, so let’s take a look at these toned-down dive-style watches that are ideal for daily wear.

Sporting a metallic blue on steel look is the SRPD51. A stainless steel case with the signature 4 o’clock SKX crown with integrated guards measures in at 42.5mm wide and 13.4mm thick. This classic and clean watch has a deep blue sunburst finish dial with a matching metallic bezel insert. Applied indices glow long into the night, courtesy of Seiko’s own Lumibrite luminous paint that’s also used on the hands. A convenient day/date display and a workhorse 4R36 movement inside round out a classically styled affordable watch that’s perfect for your everyday watch.

The SRPJ45 features the same case and specs as the previous model, but has a very interesting dial treatment. Inspired by a few obscure Seiko models dating back as early as the 1970’s, the see-through dial gives you a closer look at the day and date wheels underneath the dial. The teal colorway is accented with a bright orange seconds hand, making the SRPJ45 a fun and colorful watch that’s sure to make you smile every time you check the dial. The translucent teal dial is a unique look, making this Seiko stand out from the pack.

Both the classically styled SRPD51 and the unique SRPJ45 are now available in the shop, head over to the product page to check out all the specs and pick one up. The SRPJ45 retails for $335 and the SRPD51 for $325, making them a solid value for all that you’re getting.
