01 Treat Yourself

Hamilton Murph Blue 38mm

Hamilton Murph Blue 38mm

The Murph has always carried a story bigger than its case size, and this 38mm expression leans further into that legend with a dial that reads like a snapshot of deep space. A luminous blue center fades outward into black, echoing the glow of ionized gas thinning into the void, while a fine, grained texture gives the surface a sense of depth rather than flatness. Slightly domed numerals and cathedral-shaped hands carry over the design cues longtime fans of the Murph will recognize immediately, keeping this new colorway tied to the model’s cinematic roots even as the dial treatment pushes it somewhere more atmospheric.

Both references share a 38mm stainless steel case finished at a wearable 11.1mm thick, topped with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and an open case back that puts the movement on display. The two variants part ways at the wrist: one rides on a black calfskin leather strap with contrasting white stitching for a quieter, classic finish, while the other swaps onto a stainless steel bracelet with a folding clasp and easy micro-adjustment, giving the same watch a more contemporary, tool-ready presence.

Power comes from Hamilton’s in-house H-10 automatic caliber, a three-hand movement that trades complexity for endurance, holding an 80-hour power reserve so the watch can sit off the wrist over a weekend and still be ready to go Monday morning. A Nivachron balance spring adds resistance to magnetic fields, temperature swings, and shock, while Super-LumiNova on the hands and dial keeps the Murph legible long after the lights go down.

02 Value Pick

Brew Metric Taxi Cab

Brew Metric Taxi Cab

The Brew Metric Taxi Cab is a New York special, made by Brew for the 2026 NYC Windup Watch Fair. It takes the brand’s compact 1970s-style chronograph into the city’s most recognizable colors: taxi yellow, asphalt black, and the black-and-white checker stripe that ran along the sides of classic cabs. Brew founder Jonathan Ferrer has always drawn on industrial design and everyday objects, and the result here is a playful, unmistakably New York take on the Metric.

The 316L stainless steel case is 36mm wide, 41.5mm lug-to-lug and 10.75mm thick. Its cushion shape is finished with crisp brushed surfaces and polished bevels, and a sapphire crystal sits on top. The dial is matte black with a checker stripe running corner to corner. Two sunray-textured subdials, in yellow and silver-and-yellow, sit at 9 and 6 o’clock. Polished applied indices with lume, yellow-tipped hands, and a yellow-and-black striped chronograph seconds hand finish the look. A date window sits at 4:30. The watch is fitted to Brew’s integrated, brushed stainless steel bracelet with a folding clasp.

Inside is a Seiko meca-quartz chronograph movement. It pairs quartz timekeeping with a mechanical chronograph module, which gives a crisp start, stop and snap-back reset at the pushers. Functions are hours, minutes, chronograph seconds, a chronograph minute counter, and date. Water resistance is 5 ATM (50 meters), fine for splashes and handwashing but not for swimming.

03 Not Another Watch!

Horween Shell Cordovan Whisky

Horween Shell Cordovan Whisky strap

Shell cordovan is one of the rarest and most desirable leathers in the world. Produced from a layer of material located just over a horse’s hip, the result is a strong yet supple leather that does not crease. After a six-month tanning process, it develops a unique, rugged, rippling patina unlike anything else.

Due to its strength, the straps can be made thin — these are just 2mm thick. Combined with color-matched stitching, the result is a robust and elegant strap, tapering down to a refined 16mm at the buckle to ensure comfort during wear on everything from a vintage dress watch to a scratched-up tool watch.
