The Lorier x Worn & Wound Astra Stargazer was inspired by the mysteries of the universe, the allure of the stars, and the aesthetics of the space age. It is a watch meant to evoke the feeling of staring into the night sky and the wonder it creates. The third collaboration between Lorier and Worn & Wound, the Astra Stargazer, is also the most adventurous. Based on Lorier’s 36mm case, chosen for its classic mid-century proportions, the dial has been turned into a portal, dynamically pulling you in while still clearly and conveniently telling the time.
Rendered in cosmic gray, the dial’s center is a disk with a mysterious series of rings cut by 12 lines, bringing maps and celestial gateways to mind. Rotating slowly throughout the day, it activates the space, indicating the current hour through the embedded lume triangle. A wide band of luminescence breaks the inner and outer regions of the dial for a bold graphic moment. At night, it illuminates, creating mysterious shapes. A tri-spoked seconds hand with one green dot and two blue hovers about the dial's center, while the minute hand is a large circle with a lumed triangular tip that orbits the dial, echoing the motion of a moon.
The 36mm by 44mm by 11mm stainless steel case is mounted on a gray suede strap with a subtle, warm tone. On the wrist, it combines the charm of a vintage timepiece with the allure of sci-fi. Inside is the Miyota 90S5 caliber, beating away at 28,800 bph. Thin and reliable, the 9015 is a perfect engine for this spacetime observer.
