Citizen stamps its name on a tried-and-true sport watch format with its new 890 line. An angular dive watch with an octagonal bezel and integrated bracelet, the 890 brings the 1970s-inspired design to a more accessible price point while maintaining impressive specifications.

The watches are made of stainless steel and are 42.6mm wide and 11.7mm thick. The three-link bracelet is integrated into the case. A second crown controls the rotating inner bezel for tracking elapsed time while diving. Whether you opt for the special edition Sakura copper variant or the blue-dialed version, you’re getting an interesting and well-executed dial whose geometric motif is inspired by Tokyo’s world-famous skyline.

Inside the 890 is the Citizen Cal.9051, which is rated to -10/+20 seconds a day with 42 hours of power reserve. It beats at 28,800 bph and is antimagnetic to 16000 A/m. It's one of the brand's higher end movements and is on full display through the caseback, allowing the wearer to enjoy the beating heart of the watch.

About Citizen

With a history that dates back to the founding of the Shokosha Watch Research Institute in 1918, Citizen Watch Co. was formally established in 1930 with the goal of creating high-quality yet accessible timepieces for the Japanese market. Headquartered in Nishitokyo, Tokyo, Japan, Citizen is one of the world's largest and most vertically-integrated watch manufacturers. In addition to producing timepieces under its own name, Citizen also serves as the parent company for a number of other brands including Bulova, Alpina, Arnold & Son, Frederique Constant, Campanola, and Miyota. Citizen’s list of horological accomplishments is both long and impressive, including everything from creating Japan’s first fully-waterproof wristwatch to currently holding the title for the world’s most accurate movement, which is capable of astonishing precision within just one second per year.
