The HGP Diver 300M Automatic Commando is the most capable dive watch in the brand's lineup — and the one built for serious water use. Housed in the Monnin 980 case, a newer and more purposefully engineered shape than the 664 used across HGP's 200M range, it steps up to 300 meters of water resistance while staying remarkably slim at 11.9mm thick. The black dial is clean and date-free, keeping the layout symmetrical and uncluttered, with seven layers of Swiss C3 Super-LumiNova across all indices and skeletonized hands for maximum legibility above and below the surface. The "Scuba Dude" and historical HGP logo are pressed into the caseback — archive details carried across every Commando in the lineup.

The 300M Commando case measures 41.5mm across, 48.5mm lug-to-lug, and just 11.9mm thick — a slim profile for a watch rated to 30 ATM, and one that wears more comfortably than the spec sheet suggests. The hand-finished 316L stainless steel is polished and brushed throughout, with the crown guard geometry consistent across the HGP family. A sapphire crystal sits up front, and the bidirectional rotating bezel carries a C3 Super-LumiNova round marker at 12 o'clock for elapsed-time tracking in both directions. Screw-down crown and screw-down caseback lock down the 300-meter rating. This variant ships on a black "Tropic" rubber strap — the right strap for the water and the most popular configuration in the 300M lineup.

Inside runs the Citizen/Miyota 9039 — a Japanese automatic beating at 28,800 bph with hacking seconds, no date, and a 42-hour power reserve. Accurate to ±15 seconds per day and adjusted in-house by HGP's assembly partner MNP in Besançon, it's a step up in beat rate from the NH38 used in HGP's 200M Automatic Commando, and the right engine for a watch positioned at the top of the lineup.
