echo/neutra's Rivanera Ros'Antico

A pink titanium dress watch that earns the second look.

Every so often a watch comes through the shop that stops the room — not because it's loud, but because it's doing something specific and doing it well. echo/neutra's Rivanera Ros'Antico is one of those. A rectangular, Art Deco-leaning dress watch in sandblasted titanium with an antique pink dial, it's the kind of piece that sounds risky on paper and turns out to be quietly, completely right in person. It's worth a proper look.

Who echo/neutra Actually Is

If the name isn't familiar yet, it's worth a minute. echo/neutra is an Italian independent based in the Dolomites, founded by a designer and an aerospace engineer. That pairing tells you almost everything about how the watches turn out — there's a genuine design point of view here, built on top of the kind of materials obsession you'd expect from someone who thinks about titanium for a living.

What they do best is a particular trick: a mid-century, mildly outdoorsy design sensibility executed with finishing and spec choices that punch above the price. It's a brand that got its reputation the honest way, by being good, and the Rivanera is a clean example of why.

The Design

The Rivanera is a rectangular, Art Deco-inflected dress watch that somehow avoids feeling like a period piece. The case is Grade 5 titanium with a sandblasted finish — soft, matte, a little stealthy — and in the Ros'Antico configuration it's paired with an antique pink dial, blued hands, and a blue Saffiano leather strap.

On paper that combination could go wrong. In person it's the opposite. The warmth of the pink gets grounded by the cool grey of the titanium and then sharpened by the blue, and the whole thing lands somewhere between restrained and expressive. It's a dress watch with a pulse — not a beige exercise in good taste, but not a costume either. That balance is harder to pull off than it looks, and it's the reason this one holds up to staring at.

The Details That Matter

This is where the aerospace half of the founding team shows up. Flat sapphire crystal, an open caseback so you can actually watch the movement work, and — the spec that gets people — a manual-wind version that weighs 21 grams. Cased. That's not a typo. Titanium plus a hand-wound caliber plus a genuinely thin case adds up to a watch you forget you're wearing, in the good way.

Water resistance is 30 meters, which is exactly right for what this is. This is a watch for a dinner, a jacket, a wrist that wants something with intent — not something you take snorkeling. Anyone insisting a 5.5mm-thick titanium dress watch should survive a dive is trying to win an argument nobody's having.

Two Ways to Wear It

Here's the part worth slowing down on, because "the Rivanera Ros'Antico" is actually two watches, and which one is right for you comes down to how you feel about a couple of classic tradeoffs.

The standard Rivanera is the purist's pick. It runs the ETA 7001 élaboré, a manual-wind caliber at 21,600 vph with a 42-hour power reserve and a small seconds subdial at 6 o'clock. The case is 27mm wide with a 40mm lug-to-lug, and it's the featherweight of the two at 21 grams. If you like the daily ritual of winding a watch and you want the thinnest, most classical version of this design, this is it. Small seconds, no date, nothing between you and the dial.

The Rivanera Piccolo is the more practical sibling. It swaps in the Sellita SW1000 élaboré automatic — 28,800 vph, 46-hour power reserve — and adds a date complication at 6 o'clock. It's slightly more compact on the wrist at 26mm wide and 33mm lug-to-lug, but it's actually the heavier of the two at 29 grams, because an automatic movement with its rotor simply carries more mass than a hand-wound one. That's the honest tradeoff: you give up a little of the disappearing-act lightness and gain the convenience of never setting the time and never winding it. The Piccolo also ships with an extra brown Alpine Calf leather strap on top of the standard kit.

The Rivanera comes in at $1,810 and the Piccolo at $1,980, and both include a black rubber strap alongside the leather — a genuinely useful inclusion that turns a formal watch into something you can knock around in on a Saturday.

The blue Saffiano leather dresses it up; the included rubber strap dresses it down.

So the real question isn't manual versus automatic in the abstract. It's this: do you want the thinnest, most ceremonial version of a beautiful thing, or the set-it-and-forget-it version with a date and a spare strap?

There's no wrong answer. There's only the one that sounds more like you.

Where It Lands

The Rivanera Ros'Antico is the kind of watch that rewards the people who pay attention to small independents doing deliberate work — a real design idea, executed in a serious material, at a price that doesn't ask you to pretend it's a bargain or apologize for being one. Pink titanium won't be for everyone, which is exactly the point; the watches worth writing about rarely are.

It's also become genuinely hard to find — sold out at the brand directly — though we happen to have a few in the shop for anyone who's been circling it. If you've been curious about echo/neutra, this is a good one to start with.
