Words by Windup Watch Shop

It’s with great excitement that today we are announcing our third collaboration of 2018, the Stowa x Worn & Wound Partitio Blau Limited Edition, our second with the storied German brand. The LE is available now for pre-order, shipping beginning in December in batches of 25, details below.

The Stowa x Worn & Wound Partitio Blau Limited Edition

In 2018, it feels like every other new release is a vintage throwback, either pulled directly from archives or closely based on historical models. Smaller and more modest in design, it’s a trend that doesn’t seem to be slowing, and frankly, we’re fine with that. But not every brand just hopped on this train, rather some were ahead of the curve. Since 2008, Stowa has been quietly making a watch that hit all of the necessary design cues for a vintage-inspired timepiece, the Partitio.

Meaning “division” in Latin, the Partitio is an everyday watch with a straightforward design that is easy to read, modest in attitude and effortlessly stylish. Based extremely closely on a Stowa from 1938, the Partitio is sized just right at 37 x 46.9 x 10.8mm (including a domed sapphire crystal), giving it vintage charm with modern wearability. It’s a surprisingly solid case for the size as well, with a robust build, 50M water resistance and reassuring heft. On the case back of the limited edition you’ll find “Worn & Wound LE - X/100,” marking the collaboration.

Inside of the Partitio Blau LE is an ETA 2824-2 automatic movement. Tried and true, this Swiss-made caliber is basically the standard for reliability. The version in the Partitio is a true date-free caliber, so no phantom position on the crown.

The dial is a near replica of the past, with the same indexes, typefaces, and hands as the original - and even the old Stowa logo! For the limited edition we decided to only minimally change this already very effective dial and make it a gorgeous matte blue with parchment lume. A bit like well-worn denim, this faded tone adds a refreshing dimension to the design. The warm lume then tempers the more modern color, maintaining the watch’s retro appeal.

The typeface for the hours is a standout detail of the original design with bold, but still elegant numerals featuring open 6’s and 9’s. Each large numeral is printed in white, and then overprinted with thick, parchment colored lume that glows very bright. The hour and minute hands are polished steel swords with needle tips, elegantly pointing to their respective marks. One more small addition to the limited edition is a red tip to the seconds. Just a small pop of color to play off the blue surface below.

For the strap, we naturally had to do something special, so we took one of our favorite leathers from the High Craft Vintage series, Horween Sage Suede, and used it to create a unique Model 2 Premium. Detailed with brown stitching, brown edge paint, and natural lining, it perfectly complements the blue-dialed Partitio. Altogether, the combination has a rustic aesthetic mixing cool and warm tones with a variety of textures from the polished case and suede strap.

It goes without saying that we are extremely pleased with the way this one turned out, and we know you will be too! The Stowa x Worn & Wound Partitio Blau is limited to 100 pieces and is available to order now for $759 with free worldwide shipping.
