More specifically, we look at the recently released Murph 38mm on bracelet compared to the initially released models to determine if the Murph still offers a point of value in the current market. A new chapter for the popular Murph

Fans of 2014’s Interstellar were quick to spot a Hamilton watch worn by one of the protagonists that they’d never seen before. Created by Hamilton in collaboration with director Christopher Nolan, fans cried out for the prop to be released as a regular collection. In 2019, Hamilton did. They followed it up with a 38mm variant, downsized from the original 42mm case, and now Hamilton has released two new versions of their modern classic Khaki Field “Murph” in 38mm.

An everyday Automatic built for sports but welcome in the office

The Hamilton Khaki Field Auto is a tried-and-true design meant for everyday wear, no matter the circumstance. Born from Hamilton’s history of manufacturing military field watches, this version takes the format into a slightly more dressed-up territory by mixing a textured dial in with a beautifully finished cased. Add in the 80-hour movement, and you have an incredibly versatile design you can wear to the office, the beach, on a hike, etc.

A Classic Field Watch with 80hr movement

In the 1960s the US-military created MIL-W-3818B, a spec for rugged field watches to be issued to military personnel. Hamilton was one of a handful of brands that produced these watches, which were issued from the '60s to '80s. A now iconic design in the annals of American watches, when people think of a “field watch” this is it. Compact, tough, easy to read at a glance, it’s everything a military watch should be and nothing more.

A Classic Field Watch in a Bronze Case

Hamilton adds a new iteration to their classic field watch, the Khaki Field Mechanical. The Khaki Field Mechanical Bronze is the same robust and reliable field watch you know and love but is now encased in bronze. The unique case material will patina over time through oxidation and as the warm bronze alloy that covers the case gets darker it will be unique to you. To prevent any transfer of any of the material to your wrist, the Khaki Field Mechanical Bronze is fitted with a titanium caseback. This keeps the watch light and hypoallergenic.

Khaki Aviation X-Wind Auto Chrono

The X-Wind (crosswind) Chronographs are Hamilton’s most complex watches by a large margin. In fact, they are some of the most complex pilot’s watches - period. Featuring not just a chronograph, but also an external bezel, two (yes, two - one within the other) internal bezels, three crowns, and two pushers (not to forget a day and date as well), they allow for a savvy pilot whose instruments have failed to calculate crosswind drift. Not your everyday requirement, but they do so in style, making the X-Winds truly unique and enjoyable watches to own and wear.
