A few years off of their successful revamp of the brand, Fortis has refreshed their lineup of modern pilot’s watches with colorful new dials, and we’re thrilled to offer them in the Windup Watch Shop. The traditional flieger DNA is strong within the lineup, but modern construction and design choices make these watches an excellent option for those who want a fresh take on the pilot’s watch with the conveniences of modern construction. Meant to accommodate a wide range of wrist sizes and preferences, the Flieger is offered in both 39mm and 41mm.
Both sizes share the same brushed recycled stainless steel case. A sapphire crystal protects the dial, while maintaining a high resistance to scratches. They also share the same UW-30 automatic movement inside, with a date complication and a power reserve of 38 hours when fully wound. A standout feature is the impressive 200m of water resistance, which isn’t typical for a pilot style watch, making the F-39 and F-41 fully capable tool watches that can take a splash (and then some) if the opportunity arises.
The Flieger series is capable of tracking a second time zone, thanks to the rotating 12-hour bezel. Simply align the bezel according to the offset in hours of the zone you want to track and quickly tell the time in two places at a glance. Legibility is of the utmost importance, and reading the sword-shaped hands is easy whether you’re in broad daylight, or the dead of night thanks to the large surface area that’s treated with luminous paint.
One of the coolest parts about the Flieger lineup from Fortis is the sheer amount of options. There are two sizes to choose from, a compact 39mm or a more bold 41mm. Strap options include a stainless steel bracelet or a more traditional leather “aviator” strap. As for dial options, you can choose from a classic “Black”, deep “Liberty Blue”, or the unique “Petrol” teal. Each dial features a really interesting vertical brushed texture that adds some visual appeal while never subtracting from legibility. The Flieger collection is now available in the Windup Watch Shop, and starts at $2300 for the leather strap and $2800 for the stainless steel bracelet version.
