Practical with a touch of extravagance, the Coriolis Pointer Date began with a concept for an hour display. The “oscillating index,” as we call it, features Roman numerals alternating with 18k gold hemispheres about a railroad track used for minutes. The result is a bold, traditional yet refreshing design element that creates visual motion, pulling the eye around the dial in a clockwise direction. Hence the name Coriolis, which is a force created by the Earth’s rotation on objects in motion.
But the dial is just the beginning, as the Coriolis is wrought with details to enjoy. A robust 38.5mm x 45mm 316L steel case, conceived to maximize finishing, puts it in daily-wear territory and delivers enjoyment from all angles. Sculptural hands not only indicate the time effortlessly but also serve as a point of focus, building on the layered dial. The pointer date adds practicality and a contemporary graphic element. The Coriolis comes mounted to a 20mm hand-stitched leather strap made of Italian vegetable-tanned leather featuring a custom buckle.
Inside is the Sellita SW386-1, a thin, well-decorated, precisely regulated, Swiss-Made automatic with a central-pointer date. Featuring 25-jewels, hacking, hand-winding, a power reserve of approximately 56 hours, and a frequency of 28,800bph, it’s a high-quality and reliable engine for the Coriolis. It also features a customized rotor engraved with “OraOrea Founder’s Edition” on the first 100 of each color.

OraOrea (pronounced aura-aur-EE-ya) is an independent watch brand created by Zach Starr Weiss, co-founder of Worn & Wound, distilling more than a decade of experience in the watch industry as a writer, reviewer, designer, and collector. Shaped by passion rather than trends, OraOrea’s watches are conceived with a designer’s eye and collector’s expectations for finishing and detail. They are contemporary expressions rooted in traditional horological aesthetics; neither futuristic nor nostalgic, but deliberately of the present.
