The Tissot Heritage Visodate Powermatic 80 collection is a comprehensive 2026 redesign that brings a modern mechanical heartbeat to a mid-century icon. Originally introduced in the 1950s to celebrate the integration of a date function into automatic watches, this latest generation maintains the "Visodate" block-script charm while upgrading the dial with a sophisticated mix of vertical and circular brushing. The collection is available in three primary executions: a deep black or navy blue dial paired with a vintage-style stainless steel "beads-of-rice" bracelet, and a silver-dial version featuring gold-tone accents on a brown alligator-pattern leather strap.

For this iteration, Tissot has refined the case to a versatile 39mm diameter, moving away from larger previous versions to favor classic proportions. The case is remarkably slim at 10.45mm in thickness, allowing it to sit low on the wrist, while the 45mm lug-to-lug distance ensures it remains balanced on a wide variety of wrist sizes. Both the bracelet and strap variants utilize a 20mm lug width and feature a quick-release spring bar system, allowing for tool-free swaps between the polished butterfly-clasp bracelet and the traditional steel pin-buckle leather.

Underneath the vintage-inspired domed sapphire crystal, the watch is powered by the Powermatic 80 automatic movement, providing a substantial 80-hour power reserve. This caliber is equipped with a Nivachron™ balance spring, offering enhanced resistance to the magnetic fields of modern electronics. Visible through a see-through exhibition caseback, the movement beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour and includes a trapezoidal date window at 3 o'clock that mirrors the original 1950s design. With a 50-meter water resistance rating, the Visodate is engineered as a robust daily dress watch that bridges the gap between heritage and contemporary utility.

About Tissot

Originally called Chs Tissot & Fils, the brand we now simply refer to as “Tissot” was founded in 1853 by a Swiss father and son duo. In the 170 years since, Tissot has continued to grow and prosper, ranking among the top 20 Swiss watch brands globally. A champion of attainable luxury, Tissot watches offer Swiss quality and movements at approachable prices, while also being a regular innovator. Notably, they were the first brand with a 24-timezone automatic (the Navigator), the first with a plastic mechanical movement (the Astrolon), and the first with both analog and digital displays (the Two Timer).

In current times, Tissot continues to offer a wide range of styles, from sport to dress to just fun, a wide range of movements, from quartz to digital to mechanical, and even a wide range of materials, including steel, gold, and carbon. With such a diverse catalog, they make watches for everyone and are a great brand to keep coming back to over the years.
