The Accutron DNA reworks the brand's electrostatic platform into a sportier, more contemporary shape, built for someone who wants distinctive movement technology without the dressier trappings of Accutron's other lines. It leans into an open-work dial construction that puts the mechanics on partial display, paired with the brand's signature green accent color for a look that reads modern rather than vintage-inspired.

The case measures 45mm across and 15.56mm thick, machined from stainless steel, with the Accutron logo and a turbine motif stamped into the caseback. The dial itself is open-worked, with polished silver-tone hands and colored detailing running along the outer minute ring for contrast. It's fitted to a integrated rubber strap secured by a double-press deployant clasp, and rated to 50m/5 Bar water resistance, suited for splash exposure and still-water swimming rather than diving.

Inside is the NS30, Accutron's proprietary electrostatic movement. Twin turbines spin at high speed off the wearer's own motion, generating a charge between two electrodes that's stored in an accumulator. That stored energy powers two separate motors: a world-first electrostatic motor driving the fluid-gliding second hand, and a step motor running the hour and minute hands. To conserve power, the second hand automatically parks at 12 after five minutes without motion; a firm swing of the wrist for a few seconds wakes it back up, letting the second hand glide back to the correct position.

About Accutron

Accutron began in 1960 as Bulova's answer to the balance wheel: the world's first electronic watch, driven by a 360Hz tuning fork instead of a mainspring, accurate to a minute a month. Engineer Max Hetzel's design became a genuine cultural fixture — NASA flight computers ran on Accutron movements, and astronauts wore them to the Moon. Bulova shelved the tuning fork caliber in 1980 as quartz took over, but in 2020 relaunched Accutron as its own brand for the 60th anniversary, picking the mission back up with watches built around electrostatic movements. It's a brand built on one idea: throw out the conventional mechanism and find a more accurate way to keep time.
