The Chronosport Mecaquartz begins shipping in June, 2025.

A throwback to 1970s motorsport design, the Chronosport Mecaquartz from Nivada Grenchen blends retro flair with modern functionality. With its compact proportions and racing-inspired details, this chronograph is a tribute to speed, style, and precision timing, perfect for those drawn to vintage aesthetics with everyday wearability.

Housed in a 38mm stainless steel case with both brushed and polished surfaces, the Chronosport balances sport and elegance. Its matte black dial is framed by an white minute track, accented by either the standard tan or salmon sub-dials that evoke classic rally timers. A double-domed sapphire crystal adds vintage charm while providing modern durability. Water resistant to 100 meters, and on a well integrated steel bracelet, it’s ready for the track or a weekend away.

Under the hood, the Chronosport is driven by a VK67 meca-quartz movement, combining the precision of quartz with the satisfying snap and chronograph hand sweep of a mechanical chronograph. This hybrid caliber delivers reliability with an enthusiast’s touch, making it an ideal grab-and-go chrono that doesn’t compromise on tactile feedback or design legacy.

About Nivada Grenchen

Nivada Grenchen timepieces have been in the watchmaking industry since 1926, the year when Jacob Schneider first created it in Granges (Grenchen). In 1976, his son Max took over the business. In the United States of America (USA), the Croton Company distributed all Nivada Grenchen watches. The timepieces can have either the Nivada Grenchen or Croton signature, or both.

In 1930, Nivada Grenchen was one of the first companies to manufacture automatic watches. This led to the creation of Nivada Grenchen’s first waterproof automatic watch called the Antarctic in 1950. The watch was worn by the members of the American Navy’s Deep Freeze 1 during their expedition to the South Pole from 1955 to 1956.
