Words by Windup Watch Shop

It seems that nearly everyone who genuinely loves watches has somewhat of a soft spot for Seiko. Countless different people from all different walks of life started their watch collecting journeys with a budget-friendly Seiko 5 model, while the brand’s high-performing Prospex divers consistently rank among the most popular options for today’s discerning enthusiasts. Additionally, one of the many reasons why people love Seiko is because the brand’s watches always seem to deliver excellent value for the money, regardless of whether they are priced at a couple hundred bucks or several thousand dollars.

Naturally, we’re huge fans of Seiko at Worn and Wound, and to expand our ever-growing range of Seiko offerings available at the Windup Watch Shop, we’re adding the all-new Seiko 5 GMT models and the latest trio of Prospex dive watches that revive a classic case design from Seiko’s archives. All of these new watches offer highly legible dials, plenty of lume, and enough water resistance to stand up to all of your summer adventures, meaning that all that’s left for you to decide is which one belongs on your wrist.

Seiko 5 GMT Watches

This is arguably one of the biggest new releases from Seiko this year, and it also happens to be priced firmly at the affordable end of the spectrum. Next to a date display or possibly a chronograph, a GMT complication is easily one of the most useful features that a watch can have; however, mechanical GMT movements have historically been accompanied by a price tag somewhere north of a thousand dollars. Seiko’s latest budget-friendly release brings a mechanical GMT movement with independently adjustable hour hands to the already value-packed Seiko 5 series to create a travel-ready timepiece that punches well above its price point.

The Seiko 5 GMT is available in three different colorways that include a black dial model with a split-color black and gray bezel (SSK001), a blue dial version with a split-color bezel in blue and black (SSK003), and an orange dial variant with a black bezel that features gilt colored accents (SSK005). Regardless of your choice in color, all three models feature 42.5mm stainless steel cases that will be instantly familiar to anyone who has experience with the old SKX divers or the modern Seiko 5 Sports series watches. Additionally, all of them come fitted with a stainless steel Jubilee-style bracelet that features solid links (including solid end-links) and a latching fold-over clasp.

Seiko Prospex Divers

Seiko has been on a roll in recent years with its lineup of Prospex divers that reimagine classic fan-favorite designs from the brand’s history and the golden era of the mechanical tool watch. The latest new addition to Seiko’s lineup of professional divers is based on the vintage reference 6105-8000 that first made an appearance during the late 1960s. The new Seiko Prospex divers reinterpret this historic model’s classic cushion shaped case with modern materials and manufacturing methods to bring this fan-favorite design straight into the modern era.

The new Seiko Prospex diver is available in three different configurations that include a white dial model with a black bezel and a stainless steel bracelet (SPB313), a black dial version with a matching black bezel and a rubber strap (SPB317), and a variant with a black dial and bezel that features gilt accents and is paired with a stainless steel bracelet (SPB315). Despite their differences, all three variations are proper ISO-certified dive watches and feature rotating timing bezels, sapphire crystals, screw-down crowns, and solid casebacks, which help provide them with a dive-ready 200 meters of water resistance.
