While Tissot is a storied Swiss watchmaker, having been founded in 1880, right now they are best known for their line of sexy, 70s-inspired sports watches called PRX. A throwback to an era of bell bottoms, big cars, record players, etc… the PRXs feature an “integrated bracelet” design, meaning the case and bracelet or strap seamlessly flow into each other. A sleek-looking concept, it became the rage in the 70s, exuding a certain luxurious bravado, and had a recent resurgence. The PRX executes the concept with style to spare, all at an affordable price point.

Featuring a stainless 35mm steel case with a mix of expertly executed brushed and polished surfaces, the PRX has a classic barrel shape with faceted sides that cleanly flow into a tapering bracelet or rubber strap. A short 35mm length, 10.9mm height, and integrated bracelet design allow for a comfortable fit on small wrists and will appeal to those who prefer a smaller size in general. The dial features lume-filled batons on top of a textured surface in a variety of colors for a classic and attractive look. Riding the line between dress and sport, the Tissot PRX is a versatile watch that can be worn for any occasion.

Powering the Tissot PRX is the Powermatic 80.111 Swiss-made automatic movement. Featuring an impressive 80-hour power reserve, the Powermatic 80.111 is a 23-jewel movement with hacking seconds, date, Nivachron balance spring, and a frequency of 21,600 bph. Visible through the display case back, the Powermatic 80.111 has a nicely decorated rotor.

About Tissot

Originally called Chs Tissot & Fils, the brand we now simply refer to as “Tissot” was founded in 1853 by a Swiss father and son duo. In the 170 years since, Tissot has continued to grow and prosper, ranking among the top 20 Swiss watch brands globally. A champion of attainable luxury, Tissot watches offer Swiss quality and movements at approachable prices, while also being a regular innovator. Notably, they were the first brand with a 24-timezone automatic (the Navigator), the first with a plastic mechanical movement (the Astrolon), and the first with both analog and digital displays (the Two Timer).

In current times, Tissot continues to offer a wide range of styles, from sport to dress to just fun, a wide range of movements, from quartz to digital to mechanical, and even a wide range of materials, including steel, gold, and carbon. With such a diverse catalog, they make watches for everyone and are a great brand to keep coming back to over the years.
