This project serves as a tribute to Bulova’s history as a supplier to the U.S. Armed Forces, with 10% of the proceeds from every sale donated to the VWI to fund student education and future career opportunities. The design is directly inspired by 1940s-era military field chronographs, emphasizing functional, mission-oriented aesthetics.
The watch features a 42.5mm silver-tone stainless steel cushion case topped with a distinct coin-edge fluted bezel. The military green dial uses a tri-compax sub-dial layout with beige accents and luminous hands to ensure rapid time acquisition in low-light environments. It is equipped with a saddle brown leather strap with ivory contrast stitching and a 22mm lug width, offering a secure and comfortable fit. A domed, shatter-resistant mineral crystal protects the dial, providing a vintage look with modern durability.
Internally, the timepiece is powered by Bulova’s proprietary High-Performance Quartz movement, which operates at a frequency of 262 kHz. This frequency is eight times higher than standard quartz, allowing for seconds-per-year accuracy and a smooth, continuous sweep of the chronograph hand. The six-hand movement provides precise measurement of elapsed time and includes a discreet date window. A solid screw-down caseback ensures the watch remains sealed and features a custom engraving honoring the partnership with the VWI.
