Citizen has been building quality dive watches and dive instruments since the 1960s, but their beloved Aqualand dive watch line was introduced in 1985. It was a revolutionary watch, the first to introduce a digital display in conjunction with a depth gauge. The Aqualand was an instant hit and was considered the gold standard for such watches. The Promaster line debuted a few years later and, to this day, represents the best of Citizen’s sport-focused watches. The modern day Citizen Promaster Aqualand sacrifices none of its technical chops and continues to be a cult classic.

The Citizen Promaster Aqualand’s PVD-coated stainless steel case measures 44mm wide (50.8mm including the pressure gauge), 47.7mm lug to lug, and 14.4mm thick. Its two most notable features are the digital display at twelve o’clock for displaying additional information and the pressure gauge at nine o’clock. Pushers at two, eight, and ten o’clock provide additional functionality while the crown sits at 4 o’clock. Notably, the dial and hands, and bezel pip are fully lumed for maximum legibility, particularly underwater. The watch comes on a black polyurethane strap with an extension for comfort and diving.

The JP2007-09W is powered by the Citizen C520 quartz movement, which includes dual-time, alarm, and stopwatch capabilities. The depth gauge, in addition to tracking distance, can also trigger maximum dive time and maximum dive depth alarms. The Citizen Promaster Aqualand is ISO-compliant and is rated to an accuracy of +/- 20 seconds a month.

About Citizen

With a history that dates back to the founding of the Shokosha Watch Research Institute in 1918, Citizen Watch Co. was formally established in 1930 with the goal of creating high-quality yet accessible timepieces for the Japanese market. Headquartered in Nishitokyo, Tokyo, Japan, Citizen is one of the world's largest and most vertically-integrated watch manufacturers. In addition to producing timepieces under its own name, Citizen also serves as the parent company for a number of other brands including Bulova, Alpina, Arnold & Son, Frederique Constant, Campanola, and Miyota. Citizen’s list of horological accomplishments is both long and impressive, including everything from creating Japan’s first fully-waterproof wristwatch to currently holding the title for the world’s most accurate movement, which is capable of astonishing precision within just one second per year.
