The Formex Essence 41 Automatic Chronometer Malachite represents a significant milestone for the collection, marking the very first Essence 41 model built around a natural stone dial. Formex meticulously cuts each dial disc from genuine malachite, ensuring that the vivid, swirling bands and rich gradient shifts — ranging from brilliant emerald green to near-black hues — vary naturally from piece to piece. This organic variation guarantees that no two timepieces leave the workshop looking identical, offering collectors a truly unique, one-of-a-kind dial surface.

Engineered for exceptional daily wear and wrist comfort, the watch is housed in a finely finished 41mm case crafted from 316L stainless steel. Measuring a sleek 10.6mm in height with a compact 46.5mm lug-to-lug distance and a 22mm lug width, the proportions accommodate a wide range of wrist sizes. The case integrates a screw-down crown alongside Formex's signature, patented Case Suspension System. Utilizing four internal springs integrated directly into the case chassis, this proprietary system allows the central case section to flex subtly with natural wrist movement while actively absorbing external shocks to safeguard the mechanical movement inside.

The hand-finished malachite dial features mirror-polished indices and hands that create a striking visual contrast against the raw, organic texture of the stone. For low-light readability, key dial elements are treated with BGW9 Super-LumiNova. Scratch-resistant sapphire crystals with anti-reflective treatments are fitted to both the front and the display caseback, affording an unobstructed view of the interior architecture while maintaining a robust 100-meter water resistance rating. Completing the build is Formex's solid 316L stainless steel bracelet, fitted with a patented butterfly clasp that features an integrated micro-adjustment mechanism. This clasp allows the wearer to adjust the bracelet length on the fly across three positions (0mm, 3mm, and 6mm) without opening the clasp or taking the watch off.

The watch is powered by the Swiss-made Sellita SW200-2 Power+ automatic movement, operating to chronometer-grade specifications and individually certified by COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres). Built with 26 jewels and equipped with a Glucydur balance wheel for greater resistance to physical shock and magnetic interference, the movement drives a clean date display at 6 o'clock. Thanks to an optimized winding barrel and improved mainspring architecture, it delivers an extended 65-hour power reserve on a full wind. Visible through the exhibition caseback, Formex completes the caliber with a custom in-house skeletonized rotor embellished with blued screws and refined surface finishing.

With the introduction of the new case size, Formex kept this first production batch small, limited to just 120 pieces.
