THE ROUNDUP
The Tissot Visodate 39: Bridging Heritage and Contemporary Utility
Windup Watch Shop - May 10, 2026

Tissot re-visits one of its iconic mid-century designs to create a tasteful, refined everyday companion in the new Visodate. First released in 1950s, the Visodate was the first watch to feature a date complication that instantaneously changed at midnight, rather than slowly change as other models of the time did. First revived in 2010 under the Heritage Visodate name, this 2026 version features modern proportions of 39mm in diameter, 45mm lug-to-lug, and a thickness of under 11mm. This new release targets a sweet spot between the original 50s era release, and the larger Heritage Visodate models. Tucked away between the domed sapphire crystal and stainless steel case, a Powermatic 80 movement ticks away, offering 80 hours of power reserve, an anti-magnetic Nivachron mainspring, and accuracy of ±7 seconds per day. Additionally, the Visodate features a display caseback, making this watch just as interesting to look at whether it's on or off your wrist.
The new Visodate 39 comes in three distinct references: a classic black dial or a striking blue dial on a beads of rice bracelet, and a two-tone silver and gold dial on an alligator-style leather band. With quick-release spring bars and a 20mm lug width, you can easily swap in your favorite strap. Each version features subtle Super-LumiNova indices and a trapezoidal date window at 3 o’clock, reminiscent of the vintage design. With a 50-meter water resistance rating, the Visodate is engineered as a robust daily dress watch that bridges the gap between heritage and contemporary utility.
