The M79 is the bigger, beefier, mechanical cousin of the Q Timex. Based on the same ‘70s aesthetics as the Q, the M (for mechanical) ups the case to a bold 40mm, which helps show off the well-finished case surfaces and exotic shape. A barrel-case, the unique lines of the M79 are exciting from every angle, and look great on the wrist. Flipping the case over, you’ll find a display back showing off the automatic movement within, a rare sight for a Timex.

The unidirectional black and blue bezel is nice and wide, giving the M79 solid presence on the wrist. The black dial has a classic dive-inspired design with applied, lume-filled markers and a day/date window at three. Similarly, the handset features a classic sports watch design, with the hour cleverly incorporating the Timex “T” in its design. The overall design of the M79 is handsome and classic, but has a unique personality and cool style that sets it apart.

Making the M79 tick is a Miyota Automatic caliber. This Japanese-made movement features 21-jewels, hand-winding, 42-hour power reserve, quickset day/date, and a frequency of 21,600bph.
