The Max Bill line by Junghans are truly iconic timepieces that have remained largely unchanged since their debut in the 1960’s. The eponymous designer and architect was trained in the famous Bauhaus school in Dessau, Germany, where he honed an undeniable skill at creating minimal, modern works that manage to be as refreshing today as they were at their inception.
The Max Bill Regulator Bauhaus takes that iconic core design and flips it on its head, introducing a regulator to the line. A regulator watch features non-coaxial hours, minutes, and seconds, meaning each hand is fixed to and rotates on a separate point. With trademark German elegance of proportion, the Bauhaus-inspired design is richly visible. Junghans has upsized the Max Bill case to 40mm, taking advantage of the increased space to place the hour track at noon, with seconds rendered at 6:00. The minute track still maintains its presence at the center. The hands and date feature a vibrant red accent, complementing the sharp matte white dial. A simple black leather strap grounds the design.
The Max Bill Regulator Bauhaus is powered by the Junghans J800.5, a ETA 2824-2-derived automatic caliber featuring a date complication, bi-directional winding, hacking, hand winding, 28,800 beats per hour, and a power reserve of at least 38 hours.
