Citizen is no stranger to making watches that can go the distance. In this case, it’s height that matters. The Altichron is a multi-functional watch that slots within the Promaster lineup as the pilot’s choice. The Aqualand and Skyhawk are two other intense tool watches that share its hardcore DNA, but no other watch in the Promaster collection flies as high. The Altichron exists to focus on navigation needs, but it also works as a do-it-all rig.

The case of the Altichron is 47 mm of black DLC-coated titanium, contrasted by the dial with its yellow accents. An aperture around the center of the dial in conjunction allows the metric altimeter to measure between 1,000 and 32,000 ft. At 9 o’clock is the second sub-altimeter. The two pushers on the left side of the case activate other functions, including an electronic compass. A date complication can be found at 3 o’clock.

The Promaster Altichron is powered by Citizen’s proprietary solar movement: Eco Drive. Powered by any light source, Eco Drive continuously holds power and eliminates the need for battery changes. A plastic strap keeps things wearable and comfortable, and the screw-back caseback ensures 200 m of water resistance (according to Citizen, good for swimming, showering, or snorkeling). Whether heading high or low, the Citizen Altichron has your back.

About Citizen

With a history that dates back to the founding of the Shokosha Watch Research Institute in 1918, Citizen Watch Co. was formally established in 1930 with the goal of creating high-quality yet accessible timepieces for the Japanese market. Headquartered in Nishitokyo, Tokyo, Japan, Citizen is one of the world's largest and most vertically-integrated watch manufacturers. In addition to producing timepieces under its own name, Citizen also serves as the parent company for a number of other brands including Bulova, Alpina, Arnold & Son, Frederique Constant, Campanola, and Miyota. Citizen’s list of horological accomplishments is both long and impressive, including everything from creating Japan’s first fully-waterproof wristwatch to currently holding the title for the world’s most accurate movement, which is capable of astonishing precision within just one second per year.
