The Nivada Grenchen x Worn & Wound Datomaster VK63 was created as an accessible, modern counterpart to the Valjoux 72 Chronomaster, and to celebrate the Sii (Seiko Instruments Inc.) VK Meca-Quartz movements. The Datomaster features a 36mm x 43.5mm x 12mm case and a triple register design with a date at six for a truly classic chronograph style.
The Nivada Grenchen x Worn & Wound Datomaster VK63 features a dial that matches the Chronomaster Valjoux 72 V2 closely. The dial surface is a pale sand color with a “racing” seconds/minutes index printed on a ring of teal. Pale blue applied markers add contrast for the hours, as well as feature lume plots. Rather than solid sub-dials, the 24-hour and 60-minute indexes are printed on teal rings, with sand centers. The active seconds counter at the six position has no ring, matching the dial surface, opening up the dial, and allowing the bright sand surface to shine.

Nivada Grenchen timepieces have been in the watchmaking industry since 1926, the year when Jacob Schneider first created it in Granges (Grenchen). In 1976, his son Max took over the business. In the United States of America (USA), the Croton Company distributed all Nivada Grenchen watches. The timepieces can have either the Nivada Grenchen or Croton signature, or both.
In 1930, Nivada Grenchen was one of the first companies to manufacture automatic watches. This led to the creation of Nivada Grenchen’s first waterproof automatic watch called the Antarctic in 1950. The watch was worn by the members of the American Navy’s Deep Freeze 1 during their expedition to the South Pole from 1955 to 1956.
